Baylor University Medical Center (BUMC) is a nationally recognized non-profit hospital that cares for more than 300,000 patients annually, with 100,000 receiving care in the Emergency Department. A flagship hospital of Baylor Scott & White Health, BUMC It is equipped with 914 licensed beds, supports an Emergency Medicine residency program, and serves as the primary rotation site for medical students from Texas A&M. The culture is rooted in a foundation of patient safety and focused upon providing the highest quality healthcare in the BUMC Emergency Department.

Emergency Department Details:

Admission Rate: 23% 

Admits all patients except: Pediatric Psychiatry Burns

Patients/Hour: 1.8

Capacity: Level 1 Trauma 

Transplant 

Comprehensive Stroke 

Chest Pain 

ED Beds: 74 

ICU beds: 100 

24/7 Radiology 

5 Ultrasound machines 

4 new Sonosite Xportes 

1 Sonosite Mturbo   

2 dedicated department CT scanners

Coverage:

BUMC runs 5 APP shifts each day (10 hour shifts)

11 physician shifts each day

Plus EM residency program

Required Qualifications

2 Years EM experience post training, or an EM Fellowship

Active / Clean Texas License

Procedure heavy, must be experienced
